Qatar celebrates National Day through dedicated TV channel

On the occasion of the state of Qatar’s National Day, a new channel was established to celebrate and promote Qatari culture around the Arab world. The programming was to be a combination of live National Day celebrations, documentaries, talk shows and news bulletins that cover both modern and traditional aspects of Qatar.

Although the channel was to be on-air for just a week in December 2008, we needed to produce a full package of channel and programme idents, a news package and on-screen presentation graphics.

Our approach for the idents was to create a rich animated world rooted in the national colours of maroon and white, to showcase the various special qualities of Qatar that would appeal to residents, visitors and business audiences alike. This encompassed heritage, tourism and sport, as well as business, industry and education. Animation provided a cost-effective means of contrasting with the largely filmed live action programming content.
