Think Big – Creative Invite
An identity for the youth, by the youth
Telefónica’s Think Big initiative is all about helping young social entrepreneurs get their ideas off the ground. When creating the new identity, we wanted to put the stories of these young people centre stage, share the great results the programme has achieved and inspire others to get involved. To do that, we collaborated with Talenthouse, an online platform that allows young creatives to answer professionally set briefs and invited users to learn about six Think Big projects from the UK, Germany and Spain. The young artists were then asked to choose a project and bring it to life with their own illustration over supplied photography.
The response was fantastic with 454 entries from all over the world. Our judging team met in Madrid to review the entries and eventually (with a few debates) chose Christine Roesch from Berlin as the overall winner. The jury was drawn to Christine’s wit and distinctive style. Using the upturned laptop as a tent and the iPhone as a pond really captured the essence of Hannah Catmur’s ‘Pocket Explorers’, a project that takes technology for children to the outdoors. Beautifully illustrated and vibrantly colourful we felt her work was worthy of winning the top prize.
After the competition, Christine spent a week in our London office, where she further developed her idea as part of the Think Big identity. Her illustrations will be included in the final version of the refreshed brand guidelines.
